The US 2021 $86bn in investment in broadband networks

The recently released 2021 broadband investment report of the American Communications Industry Association USTelecom pointed out that the investment of U.S. broadband operators in network construction in 2021 is as high as $86 billion, 8.3% higher than the $79.4 billion in 2020 and more than $5 billion more than the $80.8 billion in 2019. 

USTelecom noted that $86 billion is also the largest amount of investment in broadband networks in the United States in nearly 20 years. During the optical communication bubble in 2001, U.S. broadband operators invested $111.5 billion in network construction, and in 2000 it was as high as $118.1 billion, a record that has not been broken. 

Behind the $86 billion in investment is thousands of dollars invested by the U.S. federal and state governments. The U.S. Congress approved a $42.5 billion investment plan for broadband asset access and deployment of BEAM for broadband construction over the next four years.
